The Cohen Law Group, which represents the High Country Fire Protection District, played an important role in helping HCFPD join with the Colorado Sierra Fire Protection District to form the new Timberline Fire Authority. The two districts, which share common borders, believe formation of the Authority will help them to provide fire protection and emergency medical services more efficiently. The process leading to the formation of the Authority required both districts to identify and consider many legal issues prior to signing the Intergovernmental Agreement that created the Authority. If the Authority works well, the two special districts may consolidate into a single district. 7/29/08
